Levothyroxine is used to treat hypothyroidism (a condition where the thyroid gland does not produce enough thyroid hormone). It replaces or provides more thyroid hormone, which is normally produced by the thyroid gland.

Take their levothyroxine first thing in the morning, at least 30 minutes, but preferably an hour before eating, on an empty stomach and with only water.

Many people using this medication do not have serious side effects. Get medical help right away if you have any very serious side effects.
